The sewerage network is designed for wastewater, not rainwater. Additional stormwater entering the system, particularly during heavy rainfall, may increase pressure on the network and affect its performance and service continuity.

It is any direct or indirect connection that allows rainwater to enter the sewerage network. Examples include connecting a roof downpipe or a rainwater drainage inlet within a property to the sewerage network.

If the location of the rainwater downpipe or drainage outlet is unclear, particularly where connections are concealed or underground, the property's drainage system should be inspected to ensure that rainwater is not being discharged into the sewerage network.
If a connection is found that allows rainwater to enter the sewerage network, it must be corrected by separating the rainwater drainage from the sewerage network in accordance with the approved requirements.
If the incorrect connection is not rectified, a violation may be recorded in accordance with the applicable regulations and requirements, as discharging rainwater into the sewerage network is considered an incorrect connection and a violation.

No. Sewerage manholes must not be opened to drain rainwater, and the sewerage network must not be used as a discharge point for rainwater or accumulated stormwater from basement pumps.

Please avoid direct contact with sewage and report the issue through TAQA Water Solutions’ approved official service channels, or call 800555.
